Basic Square BnW image research

I have begun the project in my usual way and found some google images just to get an idea on what types of black and white square format photography others are doing. There are a massive range of lighting techniques and compositions that fit within the boundaries of portraits but as you can see I’m more taken with the close up photos that are from the shoulders up wards as well as the contrasty light, and dark backgrounds. From here I think I should look at some photographers like Irving Penn, David Bailey, Jeanloup Sieff and some more contemporary artist so I’m gaining inspiration from a range of works
